MMDA, Muntinlupa Inaugurate Green Recreational Park

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday officially inaugurated the Urban Green Space and Recreational Park located in Bayanan Baywalk in Muntinlupa City as part of the agency’s Adopt-A-Park project.

MMDA acting chair Carlo Dimayuga III and Muntinlupa City Mayor Rozzano Rufino Biazon led the inauguration and blessing of the park.

“It is always a good day when we inaugurate projects like this because it is a testament of the significance of the productive collaboration between local government units and national agencies,” Dimayuga said in a news release issued Monday.

Biazon said the establishment of the park is part of the 7K Agenda, the centerpiece of his administration.

The 7K Agenda consists of Kabuhayan (livelihood), Kalusugan (health), Karunungan (knowledge or education), Kaunlaran (progress), Kapayapaan/Kaayusan (peace and order), Katarungan (justice) and Kalikasan (environment).

“We have a shared responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of the park. I urge the Muntinlupa City government as well as the officials of Barangay Bayanan to perform and discharge their duties accordingly for the benefit of our constituents,” Rufino said.

The park, which was turned over to the City Government of Muntinlupa, has new grass, bollard lights, benches, ramps for persons with disabilities (PWDs), exercise area, and a colorful play area for the kids.

Under the Adopt-A-Park project, which started last year and was the brainchild of former MMDA chair and now Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., the LGU proposes the location, design, and cost estimate, while the MMDA sets the criteria for site selection, provides funding, and implements the construction of the project.
